Humm.. very interesting. this is news to me. So are you telling me you are pulling LTE on a Sprint 4G Phone in Scottsdale?

That was my understanding also, that it was a software thing, not hardware; but thanks Larry54321 for clarifying it a bit more. It makes sense too because it would be hassle for sprint to sell 2 different types of phones, one for wimax and another for lte.

I didn't believe it but I was in the area of 7th st and Bell today and there really is 4g. I took some screen shots but I wasn't able to upload them.

this is true... I've picked it up in this part of North Phoenix several times now. Its on the coverage map @ Clear.com too. It is a strong signal and speeds are fast. Here is hoping WiMax is on the way to Phoenix now!

I can't wait for sprint to turn on all those 4g towers in phoenix, I mean, I think all evo and epic owners should gather somewhere to celebrate, haha. that is going to be a huge day. It will totally change how we use our phones from then on. I was amazed how fast it downloaded HQ youtube videos, the possibilities seem endless with super fast mobile Internet. Where my office is, we can only get qwest at 1.5mb and they charge $75 a month, I'm thinking when 4g is on, I will get a sprint 4g hot spot and use it as my main internet and ditch qwest.

See that little green spot at the top of the map?

They are getting ready to turn on most of the city. I have been right about everything as you see. My neighbor is a boss at clear. And yes LTE will work on evo and epic. It already does.

After seeing the map updated on clear.com with 4G service listed in north Phoenix, I decided to take a drive out there tonight to test it out. I was parked on the southeast corner of Bell Rd & 7th St, in the Chase Bank parking lot.

4G lit up right away at the intersection, and this was my speedtest result...

Download: 6.63 Mbps
Upload: 0.97 Mbps
Ping: 123 ms

(sorry for the crappy pics in advance)

Sprint lte is here and work on sprint phones because its sprints network! Like I said b4 my neighbor works for clear as head engineer in the field. LTE will work on current sprint 4g phones. Read this Clearwire to start testing LTE in Phoenix this fall | Droid Police google sprint lte in phoenix pages of it will come up. Its just a software update. Its a double bandwith spectrum with download speeds of 80 mbps eventually. know one else but sprint has this bandwith spectrum.

I go by Frank Lloyd Wright / Scottsdale everyday, and there is no Sprint 4G anything there. At least nothing that works on my Evo, anyway.

My map looks the same as the last time I checked, nothing new here....

Check the map at clear.com (click coverage), there is a new area of 4G coverage in the chandler/gilbert area. This is new. I live near the area in north Phoenix that has Sprint 4G, and it is a strong signal and seems pretty darn fast. Looks like Sprint and Clear are definately expanding in Phoenix!! :)

They are replaceing my evo with a new one. unrevoked doesnt work on new evos. can anyone root my new evo? thanks pm me if you want. Or maybe you do Ben I live in the same area.

^^
Yup, thats what I saw too. There is coverage (of about the same size) in north Phoenix as well. Hopefully this means that the Phoenix roll out of Sprint 4G is underway. I Cant Wait!
