So after doing my research and ordering some batteries online I have found that the Photon uses a new battery that NO OTHER Motorola phone uses. The code on the battery is HF5X. Most places thought that the battery was going to be the same as the Atrix which I believe is a BH5X.

I'm kind of in a panic because I use my phone heavily and usually go through 2-3 batteries a day. I know that batteries will start showing up on ebay but it's going to be a while.

I just thought I'd let everyone know. If you have any information about batteries that might be for sale somewhere please let me know.

sporklover.....look at the code on the battery. That isn't the correct battery!

There are TONS of websites promoting the BH6X battery or the BH5X and it's not going to work. I just received a BH6X battery in the mail today and it doesn't fit at all. I purchased them before I bought the phone
 
Eversontx, I did look I just assumed the difference in Part # was because it was a higher rated battery.

I did look at it and compared against the battery in the P4G. Looks to be incompatible. The contact points are different. The one in the P4G has "female" contact points. The one linked in the accessory thread has standard flat contact points. Unfortunately the pins in the P4G aren't spring loaded so I dont think that battery is going to fit now.

Looks like the battery is a one of a kind for the P4G. Too bad. I was hoping we could ride the Atrix wave.
 
Monoprice.com has a micro usb battery for about $12 that might help you get by until you find something that works. Capacity is around 3000 mah.
 
Man, we really need this battery to come out. I have something I am going to in September that will drain my battery in only a few hours and ill need a spare.

For situations like that, I've used this:

Kensington Pocket Battery

It's convenient because the micro-usb is built into the product and it's small enough to keep in your pocket. There are other companies that make similar products, but I think only a handful with integrated micro-usb.

Last time I had to use it, I think it charged up 30% extra (prior it running out of juice and needing a re-charge). For a little over $10, it's worth having as a "just in case." And it'll work for any phone you get in the future with a micro-usb charging port (or mini-usb).

did not realize they made them that cheap, hrm, seems worth it
 
wow they make those battery backup chargers real cheap, though i like name brands, why in the heck did i think these things costed a lot. lol oh well, getting one next week for sure.
 
 
The backlight on my first photon died about 6 days in to my ownership.

Sprint swapped it out for another and gave me the battery.

Does anyone know of a compatible charger for this battery?

Looking for an extended battery for the Photon. Anyone know phones batteries are compatible with the Photon? How about an extended battery?
 
From what I've read your best bet would be to get one of the recharge things that charge a phone without hooking them up to a wall

Something like that, though I don't know if that would help you.

Motorolla is selling the battery seperate for 50 bucks, but its just the one that comes stock with the phone.

Looks like it's adjustable depending on the battery, but I've always bought aftermarket battery chargers specific to the phone that I have, so I don't know how this works, but wanted to throw it out there in case people want to try it out.

I have one of those that I bought about about 6 mos ago for another phone. It works fine and will accommodate almost any battery. Just be sure to observe correct polarity!

Thanks for chiming in to confirm that it works. I might just buy one of these eventually. It'll be useful as I change phones in the future and can adjust to accommodate any new phone's battery.
