Help No Amazon MP3 store on Inc

Hello,

I put the .apk on my phone and installed it, but I was wondering how to put it in the app drawer. Any help?

It probably is in your drawer. Only thing is, it's called "MP3 Store" once installed, so it will show up under "M" not "A" for Amazon.com. But the Amazon.com logo will be visible in the icon.

Amazon MP3 Store app was not included with my Droid Incredible (as discussed). The app definitely does not appear in the Android marketplace for me or on Androlib. Dont know what an "apk" is or what I would do with it. Any help?
thanks.

Uhhh, I found an MP3 download app in the Android Market place that allows me to download free MP3's directly to my phone. I didn't have to sign up for anything, insert any credit card information or paypal information. I installed the app, searched for an artist and began downloading for free. I have probably downloaded about 15 different MP3's so far and I haven't had any issues with it. It's great! Good luck with the Amazon MP3 store.

To install:
1. Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > and check the box for "Unknown Sources". This will allow you to install apps that didn't come from the Market.
2. Go to the Market and download a file manager (I'd recommend ASTRO File Manager).
3. Copy the .apk to your SD card (doesn't really matter where you put it - just put it someplace you'll remember it).
4. Using the file manager you downloaded in step 2, browse to the .apk file you copied and tap it.
5. You should be prompted to Open App Manager, from which you'll be able to install it.
6. Optionally, go to Menu > Settings > Applications > and uncheck the box for "Unknown Sources" to restore a level of security.

Note: you won't see updates for the app in the Market, because you didn't get the app from the Market.

Also, to uninstall the app (if you ever want to), you'll need to go to: Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.

I occasionally DJ, so I would like a means to download music on the fly, if needed, so Amazon MP3 would fit the bill, as the Incredible does not seem to have any apps that will let you shop and buy an mp3 file. This is strange because on my old LG phone, verizon had a means for me to download songs to it, if I really wanted to...but for some reason this killer new smartphone doesn't have this ability (at least none easily or readily accessible).

Followed the instructions. Downloaded the .apk file on my laptop and copied over to the sdcard. From there Astro let me click on it and launched the app manager. Was a little nervous about clicking that pesky checkbox about allowing non-Android-market apps, but did it anyway :) Anyway, install worked and the app appears to work fine.

Downloaded a song, and the app created a folder on the sdcard called "Amazonmp3", which is no surprise because amazon mp3 downloads on a computer want to load to such a folder. But this folder is NOT inside the "Music" folder on my sdcard. I was concerned about that, but my music player (the one that comes with the phone) had no trouble finding it and listing the artist and song along with all the other songs on the sdcard (which reside in the "music" folder).

So on first use, this appears to work as it is supposed to (and appears to be "un-installable" if need be.)

Alternately, you could use Dropbox. I just downloaded it to my Dropbox folder on my PC and then went to my phone and installed it from there. Worked perfectly!

I installed this on my Incredible but the search features don't work. The search results never show up. I can check out the top albums and songs though.

OK... so i downloaded/installed the amazon MP3.apk, search and preview seem to work fine but when i press BUY it doesn't do anything. I put in my associated email address in settings (strange that it doesn't ask for my password), does this mean I could purchase music from someone elses acct if i just knew their email address? Nevertheless, it still won't download the song. What am i doing wrong?

Just downloaded and followed directions per above. I already have an amazon account and CC saved with the account. So I found a song I wanted to buy, chose buy, it asked for email and password, then downloaded song. I assume it charged my CC a buck.

I tried again today and was a able to search without any problems. I bought a song and Amazon sent me an email confirming the purchase as if I'd bought it from the website. I'm not sure what the problem was the first time I used the app, but it's all good now.

I have amazon mp3 on my inc and it works great. I have seen people say in posts though that you cant use amazon gift certificates to pay for songs, but that is all I have used so far to pay for mine (got the certificates as gifts, needed to use them so, there ya go).

What is the program? I have been looking for one for weeks....

You might try this: WikiAnswers - How do you know if the music is protected by DRM

EDIT: Also, I believe doubletwist will strip DRM. As to the legality of actually doing that... Now that iTunes songs are DRM-free, it might be acceptable to go back and strip DRM from old songs, but I kinda doubt it since DRM was a term of purchase back when you DL'd it...

+1

I have doubletwist and it does a fairly good job of transferring music from iTunes to your DI. I don't have a 16gb microSD just yet, so at the moment I just created a playlist of songs I want on the DI, and whenever I plug the DI to my laptop I open doubletwist and it automatically updates.

That's the good. A few negatives:
- Doubletwist doesn't open automatically upon DI plug-in (might be a settings thing)
- I don't believe doubletwist "checks" for new songs added to my playlist since I last used it, the way iTunes does. I think instead it does a full transfer, based on how long the sync takes.

Otherwise though, does the job.

You can do all this directly from your phone.

Umm, something might be wrong with your install, or maybe there's a setting in Doubletwist you need to set. I was transferring some GBA ROMs to my Incredible and checking them out. To do this I had to keep unplugging the phone to remount the SD. Every time I plugged the phone back into my laptop it would launch Doubletwist to sync with my phone and I would keep closing it. It was getting pretty annoying. It's definitely a feature. You should look into why it's not automatically doing it for you.
