No Android Keyboard

My phone on Rogers only allows me to choose from the Swype option or the Samsung keypad. Where's the Android option? I want to use voice input.

Hello, anyone at all???

If this is just something simple that I have overlooked, could someone just point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance to whomever answers this.

I'm not terribly familiar with the Rogers version. Does it come with Froyo? If so, that's likely the issue. Seems most (possibly all?) of the Froyo builds are absent the Android keyboard.

It's still running 2.1. I've read 2.2 is supposed to be released for it this month.

It's possible that they didn't include it. I checked the XDA forums to see if I could find an Android Keyboard package, but didn't see one offhand. You might double-check there, and I think there's also an "Android Keyboard" on the market. Whether or not your market can see it, I don't know.

You will have to install it by yourself, like the above poster said, the XDA forums should have it for you.

Rogers, for some stupid reason, got rid of the Android keyboard in their model of the Captivate. Rogers has to remove something from all of their phones due to some stupid obsessive controlling reason (speculation) so they had to get rid of something, and luckily you can easily find a way to install it yourself. I have been too lazy to look it up and install it for myself, but I do recall seeing something over at XDA.

Can someone link me to the source of the keyboard on xda? I have froyi and the samsung keyboard really sucks when you dont want to use swype.
