Help No APN Configured

J,urray75

Lurker
Hi All,
New to the Captivate (13 days). Yesterday, I had my first major issue. I can no longer connect to Cellular Data (wifi works fine).

I've called AT&T, and been through the 2-hour ringer; they tried everything, and concluded it is a HW issue and I need to return the phone. Not ready to give up yet.

Symptoms:
(a) Cannot connect to internet over cellular, but wifi is fine
(b) Quick Settings APP says "No APN configured"

I've tried everything I could find on the net, including:
Resetting APN to default
APN Backup & Restore (cannot find anything wrong in the backup file)
Other APN on/off apps
Reset the phone (via menus, not via the other way on CapFaq)
CapFaq (did not see anything relevant to this issue, but I might have missed it

Any other ideas? I'm stuck with the phone on vacation & cannot return to the store for 10 days, so I'm willing to try some things...

FYI - never been unlocked / rooted.

Thanks,
Jason

I had the same problem today, but turned out to be an app issue. I had ExtendedControls app loaded and running. I then decided to delete the app as it duplicated several features on another one. I deleted it not knowing I had the 2G/3G toggle and Date toggle turned off. I could not find anyway to get it turned back on. I looked at the APN settings and compared them to what NorCal Eistien had and noticed "extendedcontrols" in a couple of the entries. It didn't register right away, but when it did I reinstalled the app, added the two toggles, turned them on and deleted the app again. Glad I found a solution and did not have to call ATT support and waste my time with them. Anyway, might it be an app issue you have? Good luck it resolving your problem.

Thanks - I'll try both of these. Incidentally, I did find that there is no AT&T data service where I am on vacation this week. Of course, AT&T did not mention this when I was on the phone with them.

If I turn Data Roaming on, I get data...

With these two clues, I suspect that I do not actually have an issue, and once I return back to an AT&T covered area, I'll have data again.

If not, I'll definitey try these 2 suggestions.
