Help No Back button after upgrading

I have upgraded my ATT S2 to 2.3.5. Now, to go back I have to press Home button. Pressing on Back button does nothing. Any idea?

this may seem like a silly idea, and please let us know if it works. we all forget these modern phones are really computers that happen to also make calls.

so, try a soft reboot. turn off the phone when it is not charging, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

an old pc rule is when in doubt, turn it off. again, please let us know if this worked. my old captivate would freak out quite often, my sgs2 has not, but none the less, a soft reboot always fixed it.

ok, well, sorry, i do not know what to recommend. did you even try turning it off? just asking.. maybe santa needs to bring you a new phone??

i believe samsung usa has a 1/one year factory warranty. if you rooted, try to unroot. sorry i can't help more.
 
I'm ok waiting for ICS to come in Q1 '12, or whenever but I need some immediate relief via an update for the WiFi connection issue as well as the lag when swiping off of the home screen both of which are very annoying!

Sorry but that's not the update for our phone and at best it's still in BETA... :( I'm sorry to hear of your issues but I truly hope you can get this resolved...

FWIW - I've seen plenty of posts here on the forum of people change out ROMS back and forth hopefully this can be applied to FIRMWARE updates as well? If not you may have to go back to AT&T store...

PS. I've been using my phone for over 1 month now and honestly, I haven't really found a need to have the phone rooted, *YET*... Until I have a need to root, I'm going to run my phone STOCK only as there are immediate benifits for *ME* that I can think of...

hey everyone. i had this issue when updating on i777 2.3.4 build to a custom rom (villianrom2.5) its a uk rom so it has support for only the uk models of galaxys2 the i9100 etc with the physical home button. anyway i did some playing around and was able to get it to work for me.

you just need to change some settings in the build and you can do it right from you phone.

1. download root explorer. you can get this for free if you google rootexplorer.apk it doesnt matter the version you get.
2. open it up and fallow this line. /system -usr -keylayout - sec_touchkey.kl
3. once in sec_touchkey.kl use the text editor option to change our settings.
4. write this exactly how i have it writen

key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
key 28 HOME VIRTUAL
key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
key 107 SEARCH VIRTUAL
key 105 DPAD_LEFT WAKE_DROPPED
key 106 DPAD_RIGHT WAKE_DROPPED
key 103 DPAD_UP WAKE_DROPPED
key 108 DPAD_DOWN WAKE_DROPPED
key 232 DPAD_CENTER WAKE_DROPPED
key 212 DPAD_CAMERA WAKE_DROPPED
key 231 DPAD_SEND WAKE_DROPPED


5. after all that has been entered exit out of it shut of the device and reboot it. it should now have all the heptic keys working on the rom/build yours is using.

ive only tried this out on att galaxy s2i777 but it should work for all the s2 from the US with only heptic keys. give it a try guys i hope it works for everyone.
