just rooted my phone, running stock rom.

trying to replace boot animation and everything i read is to replace the bootanimation.zip in one of the following locations:

/system/media
or
/system/customize/resource

all i've been able to find is spc_bootanimation.zip located under /system/customize/resource.

I assume if i download the boot animation file i want and rename to spc_bootanimation.zip i'm good, but honestly weary of doing so.

Please help

just make a nandroid backup before doing so. also make sure that your file manager can set permission to read/write otherwise you will not be able to do anything. and i believe that is another name that bootanimations can be named. also some roms it might be placed elsewhere in the system partition. i like root explorer because you can do a search of the system partition for the bootanimation file.

Yup... u got it... just rename the original to 1spc_bootanimation.zip and then the new one to spc_bootanimation.zip As long as the new file is named EXACTLY as the original was when u started, it should work!

Good luck!

much thanks for those who have replied, I will try that out. i will try as soon as I upgrade my sdcard as I'm doing as I send this. Will report back with results. Thanks again

Thanks all, worked perfect, rename file, copy new boot file and give same name. it just works as Android usually does, love the ability to customize. Thanks again.
