Help No camera sound?

Hi all
I have a problem, everytime I switch the phone off & back on again the camera sound disappears, even worse the only way I can get it back is to install another camera app and then change the sound within that app as I can't see anyway to change the sound in the default camera, does anyone else have this problem?

please help if you can.

I have done some more testing and it appears that even the sound on the video camera doesnt work, what i mean is that it doesnt make a noise when you start & stop recording :-( , i have looked for the sound files and they are within the system and havent been modified! i really dont want to perfrom a factory reset, please has anyone else got any ideas as i really want to stick with the factory camera app.

Yes i have made sure that all the sound levels are as high as they can go.

Pete Are you getting system sounds from the rest of the phone?

I spent the past hr trying to find an answer for you. Google produces results with settings for other Galaxy phones; not the Note 2. By any chance did you install a separate camera app on there.

If all else fails can you get the phone exchanged?
 
Thanks for trying, i did install another camera app but only to try and get the sound back. i have now done a factory reset :-( and the camera sound is back working, but im putting the apps back on one at a time and testing the camera sound after each install to see if i can find out if it was something i installed the screwed it up!!

So glad it's working for you again. Hopefully you don't have a lot of resetting up to do but that's a small price to pay for having everything working again.
During my Googling I came across a few camera apps that have the ability to disable the shutter sound. Thats why I ask if you installed a separate camera app.
The shutter doesn't bother me so I never looked into disabling it.

The camera apps where you can disable the shutter sound have their own sounds.

I have done a bit of research myself on this.

The camera shutter sound is /system/media/audio/ui/shutter.ogg
There are various other sounds in there as well.
Some explorers can view the folder without root (I use x-plore and ES Explorer depending on mood) but root is needed to modify the contents fo those folders.
I am rooted so I did some tests.
I renamed it shutter_old.ogg and the cam went silent. My main aim is to replace it with something less intrusive.

Apparently manufacturers lock the shutter sound on in response to The League Against Pervy Boys Snapping Upskirt Unawares.
 
yes i did find the camera sounds the other day when i was looking for making the ringtone louder, but like you say you have to be rooted to alter anything and im still a bit dubious about doing it, in case i have a problem and need to send the phone back.
