No cell coverage/wireless solution

So I don't have great cell coverage where I live. It's spotty at best so I'm going to be relying heavy on wireless. I'm thinking of forwarding my cell phone either to my Google Voice account or can do similiar w/ a Skype account and I think that will solve the mobile number problem. My issue is in regards to text messaging. Anyone know of any apps that can forward my text messages from Verizon to some text app? Basically trying to replicate my Verizon calls/text through a wireless network. Thanks in advance and sorry if I put this in the wrong place.

The only way I can think of to do this is to sign up for a Google Voice number and then tell everyone to start texting you on your GV number. Your Android phone will send/receive SMS from your GV number through the Google Voice app.

GV numbers can only send/receive SMS. You'll need to train your friends to MMS to your email address if you go this route.

Moreover, you can send/receive SMS from a computer if you log onto your Google Voice when on your computer...and all conversations remain in the Google cloud until you delete them from your phone/cloud.

Another great thing about having a Google Voice number is that you can set it to ring you home phone, work phone, etc., in addition to your cell phone.

My mom and my sister only have my GV number, that way, I pick up my work or home phone when I'm there...and when I'm out and about, my cell phone rings. They only dial one number and get me wherever I am. They used leave VMs on both my cell and work phone when they weren't sure where I was and wanted me to call them back asap.

Get a Verizon Network Extender. It cost about $130-150.00 (one time charge and you own the device) and all your cell phones (up to 5 cell phones) will work in your house. Your signal need to have SOME sort of signal like 1 or 2 bars and the Network Extender it kicks your signal up to 4 & 5 bars, and your cell phones won't drop out. It has 700 sq. ft coverage for up to 5 phones. It was the best money I spent, and it certainly solved my problem.
