Help No chinese characters in sms/mms

Every time I send Chinese text messages, people can receive it, but when people send me Chinese messages, all I see it *** instead of 你好吗? All Chinese texts replace the hanzi (characters) for ******* asterisks. It really bothers me that I can't read characters.

Anyone know how to fix this? is this even fixable? is it a Metro issue?

I can receive and send characters in a ton of other apps, but only text is messed up. New text program maybe?

It would be a pita, but try changing the language on your keyboard when you want to read a Chinese message. I don't know if it'll work or not, just an idea.

My phone is already set to
Chinese and I'm using both Google pinyin IME and sogou pinyin

I've also used English and combinations of the two. I'm the only one my of my friends who doesn't receive hanzi.

If you've only had the phone for a short time, take it back & exchange it.
