Root No CIQ/Bloatware... What to use?

EAD13721

Newbie
I use to run the Syndicate Frozen rom (and liked it alot). I went back to stock in preperation for 2.2.1 from Sprint, which I have and have had a while, (unrooted).

I want to get rid of CIQ and the bloatware but maintain pretty much all functionality. I don't care about overclocking, etc.

Should I use the midnight, byor? Could anyone reccomend some steps on how to do that? I've read that thread a bunch of times but don't really understand how I'd achieve what I what. (Just a basic phone without the crap and without CIQ... especially after they just found out Iphones log your gps coordinates w/o user knowledge. Sounds fishy all around!)

Thanks for the help.
