Root No contacts

I downloaded the latest HTC sync from the HTC web site onto my PC and when I connect my HTC Droid Incredible 2 the contact will not let me turn it on therefore no contacts can be transfered from my phone. I have canceled the download several times and re-downloaded with the same results. What am I doing wrong?

I don't use HTC Sync for two reasons:

1) I prefer using Google and allowing Google to backup my contacts. Plus if I ever get a non-HTC phone again, I don't have to worry about my contacts as Google will automatically restore them, if I allow it.

To allow Google to do this you really only need to do two things. Make sure your contacts are all Google contacts and not phone contacts. Then go to Settings > Privacy and make sure both back up my settings and restore my settings are checked.

2) I'm rooted and it interferes with the rooting process.

Are you rooted?

No I have the stock HTC Inc2 and I use Microsoft Live Mail for my emails and contact names.

Try exporting your contacts from hotmail (sorry, I can't bring myself to call it live mail, it'll always be hotmail to me) and importing to your google account. I would think that would be the best thing to do...
