Help No gps lock...after trying for 15 minutes sitting on maps...

As title states...my gps is on but will not get a lock and I have had it sitting with maps open and screen on and still no lock...

Grrrrrrr arrrrrrrggghhhhhh.
 
I have the exact same problem. Any help appreciated. My wife's Droid 2 got lock in no time. Is this a GB thing?
 
If you haven't resolved your GPS problem yet try this. Forst reboot, then go to Maps and enter an address, any address. It should located that address. Exit Maps and open navigation and enter an address and see if that works. Also make sure you have a direct line of sight to the sky.
 
As Bankswood said, first thing to try is a reboot. I used to have a commonly-reported problem in FroYo - that hasn't manifested itself in Gingerbread yet, but we'll see - where the GPS will simply never get a fix. Rebooting fixed it 100% of the time.

The rest of the steps that he stated are good further troubleshooting - but for me, it was simply reboot and then go ahead and use Maps/Nav/whatever normally.
 
Whenever I get the "Searching for GPS..." message for longer than 4-5 minutes, I first try powering down the phone. Occasionally that doesn't work, so I go for a battery pull. That always fixes the problem.
 
What has worked for me is making sure the satellite layer is off. Turning off the satellite view, I usually now get a lock in a minute or so.
