Help No incoming call ringtone but ringtone is set

greatwyrmm

Lurker
My wife's Bionic is acting up in a similar manner. The phone never makes a sound or even vibrates when an incomming call comes. The volumes have all been set to max, I verified there is a ring tone applied and nothing. I have done many battery pulls with no help. I have also pulled the battery, sim and sd. Waited about 10 minutes and put it back together and still no luck. A factory data reset is still a LAS RESORT option. I would lile to resolve this issue without doing that though. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'm betting that you're not rooted, so making a backup of all your apps and such is going to be a PITA but a Factory reset will quickly tell you if it is either 1) and application on her phone causing the problem, or 2) the phone itself.

Otherwise, you'll want to remove one app at a time and reboot the phone and test until you've verified that it is not an application.

Also, has your wife by chance accidentally assigned a default ringtone per group via some sort of application? I'd look for any application that can do that first....

Have you gone to ...

Settings | Sound

... and vetified that the General settings are correctly set?

Actually, Thom, if general settings are set to silent and you try to change the ringtone, it does not play. I just verified it.

OK ... it was my way of asking if he perhaps had it set to Silent mode by mistake.

He said "I verified there is a ring tone applied and nothing" ... he did not say he heard the ringtone ... he just said it was set.

You intereperted it one way. I interperted it another.

So ... is "Silent mode" checked?

Is the ringtone an mp3? Make sure you did not move the mp3 or it wont play. The settings will show the song but won't play cause the file is pointed in the wrong area.

Yes and no from what I just tried ...

If you move an MP3 it is no longer on the list. If you rename an MP3 it is on the list with the new name.

I ASSUME it would not play if moved. I did not have an easy way to call that device when it was set in either of the changed states.

Right, but
The volumes have all been set to max
cannot be simultaneously as silent mode. If you enable silent mode, and then try to increase the volume, it takes you out of silent mode.

True - unless it was moved after being applied. But, since hte OP did say it was verified, You're right- the file has not been moved either.

@OP - do any other sounds work?
