Help No internet

Bures

Lurker
I have successfully tethered my Hudl to my Samsung GT-s6500 using a wi-fi hotspot.
However I cannot get any response from the server, ie no connection.
The Samsung uses the public network for its data ( not router) and it works OK on its own,
Tether or Bluetooth the Hudl and it wont speak to the outside world.
Baffled as they are both talking to each other
Any ideas

Is your carrier blocking tethered packets on a non-tethering account? (A few do now, and more will in the future.)

I am beginning to suspect the carrier in the UK (EE/T-mobile) may have blocked tethering.
However their web site even gives instructions how to tether mobiles to tablets, it makes no mention of a restriction

About tethering

I will contact them and see what they say

UPDATE:-
Just found this on the EE web site:-
How much does tethering cost?

Tethering is included in your plan as part of your data allowance.
The plan you purchased will have a data allowance which you can use to access the internet on your phone, use apps on your phone or use your phone as a portable hotspot to tether.

Yeah, I'm EE and I can tether no problem, but I know some of the other UK networks are semi strict with tethering/hotspot etc.

When the phone is setup as a hotspot, are all the Wifi options on the hudl set as automatic?
