Help no internet

hey guys my s4 cannot for some reason make a internet connection on the phone it shows that it has 4 g and has wifi but it doesnt connect i did a backup and restore now i cant restore my phone i dont know what happened any suggestion would be appreciated
my s4 is a canadian addition 4.4.2 android version

Its an android 4.4.2 update issue. Only thing you can do is restart the phone or do a battery pull. And it will happen again at a later date again.

If you just did a update it is recommended you do a factory data reset .

Rooting, by itself, will not fix the problem.
You might inadvertently fix the problem when you install a new ROM, or you might not. If not, then now you have a rooted which will make it harder to get service from your carrier.
I'd suggest getting the problem fixed before you root the phone.
If you haven't already tried this, do a factory reset. If it's just a 'bad' setting then that will likely fix it.
You will lose all personal data and settings if you do a factory reset, so first back up those things that are important to you.
