Is there a better way to get notified of emails and messages than the ringtone notifications ? or manually checking? I guess the moment dosent have a Led light to notify you of messages or email and i have missed email and messages since. maybe a 3rd party app that you guys have tried ??

Nope no LED notification light... Though this is good in my line of work... I don't need a light alerting my mark of my presence....

chompSMS flashes the lcd when locked and shows a short preview of the message on the notification bar......havent found anything for email so far

have any of you ran into the problem of nothing happening "no notifications" while plugged into the computer via usb cable ??

you can clearly see that there are three LED looking things at the top of the phone, next to the sprint logo. i was setting up (i think it was) "SMS popup" yesterday and was able to choose from a few LED colors per contact, but haven't seen them in action yet.

those are light sensors......for the screen brightness auto dim, screen lock when on a call and probably other apps

I have it sd mounted and i dont get a tone notification and when i have it charging sometime i get it and sometimes i dont

while sd mounted i could maybe understand but idk why that would happen, while plugged into ac you still get notifications?

I installed the SMS Popup app. You get a SMS popup window giving you a preview or just a notification on the whole screen

On the status bar at the top of the screen, icons will appear on the left side of the bar. So far I've seen an @ symbol show up when I have new gmail, and a little message icon when a text message comes in. You can also pull down on that bar for a preview.
For me this works plugged into the PC or into the wall charger, but it doesn't wake the screen up when not plugged in.

Yeah im fimiliar with the icons, im just used to a led blinking, im currently using sms popup and its working ok thanks

I looked at the 3 things at the top of the phone, and I don't see how all 3 are light sensors, and if so, why 3? I think two of them are LEDs.

FYI, the option in the test menu flashes the button back light and the keyboard back light at the same time.

This may not be all that useful but here are the boot log entries that mention "led".

I was reading through one of the other Moment forums, and I came across this post:

Hack the moment

If you notice in the pic of the self test menu, #6 reads "LED On/Off"... Thoughts?

Booted to self-test, LED is what lights up home/menu/back buttons. That's all.

Also, the firmware calls this thing an Instinct Q.

That was the original name of this device. It was slated as the "Moment Q" back in July, but the name was changed in September it appears... Maybe Samsung trying to keep the Instinct line as semi-smart phones.
