No Mass Storage Mode?

Well hello everyone will some one please help me. I have a Samsung Galaxy Discover from Cricket. I am trying to connect my phone to my Xbox but notice there is no Mass Storage mode.

I get only two options when connected. Connect as (Media Device (MTP) & Camera (PTP)). I never had this problem before with my past android smartphones. I am wondering if there is a way to enable mass storage through an app. It would be greatly appreciated if the phone doesnt have to be rooted. I can't root this phone if my life depended on it.

The Xbox doesn't recognize it i am trying to use my phone as a memory device for my Xbox.

If you have a Micro SD card in the phone, there should still be an option to mount as a disk drive. It will only mount the SD card, not the internal phone memory.

I'm not 100% sure since I don't have your phone.

Yea I am using a SD card not the internal memory. If I root the device will I be able to get a app that would work. I don't wanna go back down that road again, but seems like it's the last option I have.

Go to settings from your home page. Under Wireless and network tap on More settings. Tap on USB utilities. You should see the oprion to connect as USB mass storage there. Tap on connect storage to PC thn plug in the USB Cable nd turn on USB mass storage.

Doesn't exist in phones with ICS and above, unless the manufacturer added it in. AFAIK only Sony still has that.

Some Chinese ICS and JB phones have it as well. My Samsung with JB doesn't have mass storage, just MTP and PTP. I use AirDroid for transferring content and other stuff wirelessly.

I really miss mass storage mode... mtp is always giving me trouble both in Windows and Linux... more-so in Linux... I have a work around for my phone, it may work for you... If you have a custom recovery, it probably has the mount usb mass storage option but that is just an fyi... my work around requires you to have a launcher that lets you create a shortcut to activities(ADW,HOLO,etc...). Create a shortcut to Activities. when it gives you the list of activities to choose from, look for one called "com.android.qualcomm" and in it's subchoices, pick the one called "Qualcomm settings". now you should have a shortcut to Qualcomm settings on your home screen. If you plug your computer to your phone, make sure your phone is set to "charge only". Open the Qualcomm shortcut you created and select the option "USB Mass storage" this will turn on usb mass storage and all of its glory! be sure to turn it off after you are done before unplugging the phone... Hope this info helped you! :)
