no media sound

hey, maybe someone can educate me. the phone is a gnex running 4.3.1.

i have no media sound. i do have notification, ring, and alarm sounds. if those are working, can i safely assume it is not a hardware issue?

any suggestions welcome. and yes, i've gone into settings/sounds/media.

well, no joy. factory reset nothing. 2 other roms, nothing. so it must be hardware. i'm a bit bummed out.

wife denies dropping it. my 4 year old denies dropping it. my 2 year old denies dropping it.

they all lie.

Must be hardware then but how can it play sounds but just not media sound?

you got me. i think i heard a squeek on netflix, but it faded out. i just figured it was all part of the same sound connection, but maybe not?

i have to scrounge up a pair of headphones to see if that'll work.
