Root No More 4G Wifi Hotspot?

I remember a time when we could activate WiMax 4G on our phones and use the hotspot feature, and if we had 4G coverage, we could use the wifi hotspot and it would enable a 4G hotspot. But now, when I activate the hotspot with 4G, it doesn't disable my 4G, it just ignores that there is a 4G signal and enables it in 3G and all of my internet connections connect via 3G as well as the phone itself only using 3G.

Did something in the recent updates disable 4G or is it something else or in the settings that I need to enable? It doesn't matter how good of 4G coverage I have, I can have full bars or one bar and it still won't utilize it for the hotspot.

well the rooted hacked hotspot will not work on 4g. the unhacked hotspot does however work on 4g, but you will have to pay for that service and be on a stock rom.

Oh, okay, thanks for the answer, ocnbrze. Yeah, I'm running it from my hacked version of the hotspot while rooted without the Sprint authorized $30 plan. Is this also happening on the Evo LTE devices?

The EVO LTE doesn't actually have the hotspot hacked, they just inserted a single line of code in the phones build prop which blocks the error message and allows it to work :D

gonna move the thread to the rooting section.

looks like there is a hacked hotspot made for the evo lte:
[MOD]HotSpot/USB/BT tether Hack - xda-developers

Oh, alright, thanks. I was debating on which forum to put it under.

Wow...it's seriously that easy? Someone at HTC/Sprint didn't do their job right haha

The LTEVO is pretty easy to mod. Granted, I'm no dev but lots of things seem to be simple edits. We can do everything s-off EVO users can do with s-on. Including radios :D

There's no reason to wait for s off

Ahhhh I can't wait for my upgrade now. I wonder if it's on purpose. HTC seems to be listening more to the community and trying to help us do what we want to do.
