No NFC for the EPIC ?

The epic can't do NFC because none of the Galaxy S phones have the NFC chip.

The Nexus S is SIMILAR to the Galaxy S phones from a hardware standpoint, but, it has the required chip for NFC.

Sorry. I typed it wrong. Epic does not have the NFC chip that in itself makes the Epic outdated....IMO :o

yeah bc every phone that has come out within the past few months has it
I guess the only non outdated phone out is the Nexus S huh?

LOL.

This isn't a big deal for me...for now. I just got my Epic 4G a month ago, knowing full well it came out around August/September last year. It still runs every app I want it to run and is just a great phone. I should be good for the next 2 years...then I'll work about NFC/3D etc.

I was told that non NFC phones ( almost all of them) could be retrofitted with a special memory card that would allow NFC. I never really thought much about it. Can this not be done?

NFC systems in the US are just getting started, and probably won't be widely deployed and useful for a year or so, so I don't see this as something to be getting too excited about now, unless you're just one of those people who *has* to be on the bleeding edge of everything all the time.

Okay, I don't get the purpose of NFC besides making it easier to steal your personal information. Maybe I am missing something...
