Help No notification on Gmail app??

I've switched to the Gmail app from the native one but don't get new mail notifications.. I've looked everywhere in the settings but can't find a way of turning them on. Surely there's got to be a way??

Settings then click on the account / email address

Check if auto-sync is enabled. If not, enable it and keep data enabled. This will run down your battery, but should do what you want.
