Help No preview in Windows

So, when i navigate to the DCIM folder, on the phone, through windows explorer, i don't get any preview of the images. The icons are just the icons for the image file type, so i can't see what the images are without copying them somewhere else on my computer first, this is a huge pain in the ass.

I'm surprised it does this, but since i'm moving from an iphone (which does) i was a little surprised. Is there something i'm doing wrong or missing, a setting or update somewhere which isn't allowing me to see these previews with the icons.

OR, is it just not possible to see these previews (icon or preview pane)?

ugh..

Do you mean Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB Utilities -> Connect storage to PC?

You do (because i just checked..) Sigh.. that's a pain, i had an inkling it might be that but i keep forgetting you have to do that. Coming from an iPhone which is VERY Plug-n-Play, that seems like a pain in the ass.. I'm sure its a small thing but it is annoying.

Is there a quicker option, i ask because for ages i thought i would have to go all the way into the sound options to silence the phone but i found out there is a quick option in the pull-down menu. Is there a quick-option button to attach it as a USB device, since just plugging it in doesn't work (which.. i don't even want to get into why)

I use widgetsoid to set up a toggle on the homescreen. Lots of apps can create shortcuts for you. Search the market.

I went with Widgetsoid, mostly because it was free and i'm loathed (so far) to pay for something i think should be standard. However, i'm not sure how to set it up.

I think i got it right, i have it on the home screen and its supposed to mount the USB, but when i actually hit the button, nothing happens. It SAYS its mounted the USB, i get that screen.. but it doesn't actually change anything in Explorer.. It seems a little complicated and there isn't a lot in the way of a guide.

How did you set yours up?

I do this,

1) Add widget, choose one of the switcher.
2) In the switcher, go to others.
3) Choose shortcuts. Choose applications.
4) Tap on menu and select show more. (Applicable only after latest update)
5) Scroll down until you find USB utilities.
6) Select it.

No when you tap on it, you go straight to the screen where you tap the icon before connecting the USB cable... etc.

There is an icon for USB storage under the network tab. It never worked for me before but not sure if it works after update. Either way, the top one is a good enough shortcut for me.

Cheers

Thank you so much. I was in the right place but i would never have thought to hit the menu button to get the 'show more'. I had gotten to settings before but that wasn't far enough in. Now i can go straight there to mount the USB instead of 3-4 menus in.

Thanks again.
