No ring tone while charging?

Hello

I'm using my new HTC Desire and I have encountered a rather frustrating issue. I have tried searching everywhere but can't find anything that can help me yet.

I have found that whenever the phone is charging, the phone is completely mute and will not ring. Likewise, any sms's will go unnoticed as no ring tones/ alerts sound. The phone still operates like normal while charging and will reeieve calls, it's just the phone stays completely silent.

Cant anyone please shed some light on this and how to fix?

Oh I managed to sort it out

Just in case someone else stumbles upon this needing help..

Sounds like you're using an MP3 as a ringtone, and since it's on your SD card the phone can't access it while plugged into the PC.... Are you absolutely sure that you don't inadvertently have the phone mounted as a disk drive when the USB cable is plugged in? Under those circumstances, Android is not able to access the card contents and would not be able to play an MP3 on the card.

Ah! I had the same issue! And yes, i did mount it as a usb! *bangs his head on the keyboard*

No wonder it wasnt able to play the mp3!
