No Screen Rotation

Well I woke up this morning with my screen rotation inoperable. :confused: I checked my settings and it's checked to rotate. No clue what's going on, but I need my kb to go landscape to be able to type fast with fewest errors. I'm going to change launchers and see if that's causing it. Currently running launcher 7, which I like alot, but this issue sucks huge. :eek: I think it's launcher pro that has a setting for rotation besides the oem setting. Gonna check it out.

EDIT: FWIW, a battery pull got it working again, however, in doing a search I see this is a somewhat common issue or at least several others have complained about it and they had to return there's for replacement as not even a hard reset would fix it. Would work for awhile then "F" up again. I hope that doesn't happen.

Gingerbread was supposed to have fixed that problem from my reading.
Apparently not.
It sounds more like an orientation sensor issue to me.
You can change the operating system as many times as you want,
but if the sensor itself is bad...it isn't going to help anything.
Let's hope that's not the case.:(

Yeah, since some others have had this and could not get a fix for it, I'm a tad concerned it might come back and be an issue. I agree it's something to do with the orientation function and has nothing to do with anything OS wise.
 
Next time it quits check to see if the compass still works. When mine quit rotating the compass quit too.
 
Download a phone tester app or this app called bubble. The bubble is a bubble level tool, but it'll let you know if your sensors are working. If it keeps up, you might need a certified like new

Thanks for the tip, so far it has only been once and a battery pull fixed. Some others said the same then also said it got worse until it stopped working altogether, So , guess I'll wait and see.

Out of curiosity, have you happened to push your phone to the edge of its ruggedness or done any testing of its water tight integrity? not recomending you or anyone do it on purpose, especialy the drop testing, but I'm wondering if maybe you and some of the others may have found that the chassis is toughter than the guts.

That would seem the obvious answer, but no, not at all. I baby the heck out of all my stuff, even this rugged device. No drops, water, nothing. I'm hoping it was a fluke and won't happen again. Time will tell.

Cool man, thanks for answering, as you've noticed I'm really here to focus on the durability/integrity of this thing and maybe learn a few tricks, I would definatly never toss mine on purpose either, I like it and expect it to be watertight everyday, accidents happen when you work on/in the water. Good luck with it, definately keep updating if it's an issue down the road.
 
cbreze: This is a hardware issue and it will eventually fail. Swap it out before your warrenty is up.

Maybe if it completely fails, but I wouldn't suggest doing that until then.
While some CPO's may be just as good as a new phone,
the thing that people need to be aware of with this phone is that since
it IS a rugged phone, chances are that the bulk of the CPO's being
sent out may have very well been abused.
Yes...they will be tested in many areas, but who's to say that the CPO that you receive wasn't beat to hell by some punk ass kid
just because he wanted to impress some friends with its durability?
It's not like they are going to test the devise over and over and over again
to make CERTAIN that there are no problems with it.
If the brand new phones are failing, why the hell would anyone actually
WANT to go with one of these CPO's?:rolleyes:
 
Personally I don't think you're even on this road yet,
but I think you're better off with the one you have Cbreze.
At least you know how it was treated.:)
Either way, getting a CPO would be the absolute
LAST thing I would recommend with THIS particular model.;)
