Root No service with Virgin

miui v5 3.7.12

I was messing with my radio's and hboots yesterday, getting only one bar wanted to see if would get better with different hboot and radios on the miui rom. Now lost my Virgin service. I have restored both Nandroid backups with no luck. I flashed Harmonia even and tried to update the PRI, PRL, HARDWARE..ETC. No luck as of yet. I use 4ext and have wiped several times, before flashing. Even formatted my SD card (its brand new so only had miui on it before this nightmare). I get this V30 and V08 error about no data service or something.

Any suggestions?? Which guide would be good place to start from scratch, don't care, just want evo back.

When all else fails, run the RUU. Sucks to have to start over but hey it's better than a dead phone. Back everything up in Titanium as well as a nandroid. You should be able to restore the nandroid afterwards, but if not you'll at least be able to restore app data with Titanium.

I tried a stock rom with like jb shooter or something. It wouldn't go past the red Virgin mobile splash screen. Just keeps rebooting over and over, stopping at splash.

If find the correct ruu, will this put me back to s-on and locked, or not rooted??

Running the RUU puts your phone in an out-of-the-box state. Not rooted, S-on, and locked bootloader. Like I said you'll be effectively starting over.
Just make sure you follow the guides and you'll be gold. I'm at work right now and can maybe help more later, but a quick suggestion: You wouldn't believe how many boot loops are fixed by wiping dalvik/cache. It's worth a shot anyway. Good luck.

You don't need to turn s on for ruu.
If you haven't resolved this yet...

1) download this pg86img
https://db.tt/LnBJdpeI----you must rename PG86IMG
2) make sure it is the only pg86img on the root of your SD
3) reboot to bootloader and accept
4) your phone will start the ruu, it should reboot itself once back into bootloader where it will finish....don't get antsy it takes a few minutes.

When it is done, you will be s off.
You will have the stock ROM and recovery.
you should probably upgrade your system all 3 times, then make sure your service is there.

ALL YOU NEED TO DO NOW IS FLASH RECOVERY.

Then you can change hboot / flash new rom or restore nandroid

you should probably upgrade your system all 3 times, then make sure your service is there......

Do you mean, run this pg86img "3 times", can you explain what this in detail. First attempt it skipped over some of the options, trying again.

When you flash this ruu, it will revert your phone to 3 updates ago. So it will give you an old radio and such.

Once it boots, go to updates and check for a system update. Let it install the update.
Reboot the phone and check for another update. There should be 3 total of I recall correctly. When it says there are no updates available, you are up to date.

If your service is up and restored, you can stop there or go and flash recovery

Hope that helps

The first attempt skipping, I believe is when it flashes your hboot back to 1.57.....I may be wrong, but that's what I remember

So if got my ducks in a right row here, it shows s-off and unlocked status, but I will need to go thru the process of flashing the recovery still. I'm guessing just cant copy 4ext folder over to my sd card, huh....??

problem think I screwed up major, I saw the 4ext on my sd card. I flashed the hboot 1.50 and theres no recovery on there. Now its stuck looping and cant get to my sd card to reverse this. Any options here but a brick. It just keeps splashing htc white screen logo over and over. Thought had recovery still when say folder on sd card.

follow up question: I have old 8gb sd card, one I just screwed up on was my new sandisk 16gb sd card. But when choose recovery, I get this black screen with red sign and android black phone. Can I run adb bootloader and flash recovery that way??

Help!!!!!!!

Relax
You should be able to boot to bootloader with your old card.
Now you can flash recovery through fastboot

I assume you have SDK tools setup on your PC?

I have a recovery.IMG somewhere, I need to find it, and I'll post here

https://db.tt/fizEkdBm

Put that in SDK for folder

Then boot your phone to bootloader then choose fastboot

Then connect phone

In command prompt type 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' ---without quotes

That should get you going

Then you need to flash harmonia or something.... Stock will not work on 1.50

adb wont show my device, also windows. It worked like a champ, prior to this nightmare. it shows android phone on my devices and under device manager under disk drives, it says htc android....blah...blah. Even tried to update and shows current driver installed....why me

Do you have a card reader, or even another phone that you can edit your SD with?

Just pull the hboot pg86 and replace with ruu....run it again

Just to clarify

Goto fastboot
Connect USB
Should say fastboot USB in red
Now on cmd prompt
C:/sdk-tools/fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

I can get to "fastboot usb" in red and my windows pops up with usb error message failed stating...."device failed enumeration"...stuck there.

brainstorming here: what if take too another pc, have sd card adapter and little usb drive and pull hboot 1.50 off sd card and put ruupg86img back on sd card and reboot into bootloader. Would that let me run the whole ruu process again or pipedream.

ignore last, it worked to answer my own brainstorming question. So now back to hboot 157 and boots up. Did the software upgrade, profile and prl. Getting one to three bars again...(indoors). Now on that pg86img file, it shows recovery as second. So why is my recovery totally gone now. Secondly, how can I flash from here. Try again with adb and the recovery.img you gave me??

Here's where am stuck now and maybe I don't understand terminology. But in bootloader it clearly says in pink ***unlocked***, and s-off still after that ruu-pg86img ran. But have tried twrp, tried thru goo-manager and pg86img. Also tried rom-manager to install clockwork mod recovery and the 4ext recovery. They inform me of needing to be rooted. So unlocked doesn't mean rooted?? I cant get any kind of recovery flashed or installed. Could phone be locked and not rooted, even though says its unlocked?? I'm a flash junkie and need some kind of recovery to return to the jellybean roms and miui. The Rom Manager gave me error about a superuser app not shown. I looked thru my security options and made sure am allowing non market apps and all that good stuff.

Any ideas?? Thanks

You need to figure out your adb issue

You are not rooted.

Unlocked allows you to flash recover

Soff allows you to flash pg86img, essntially

¡!!!!!!!!!FACEPALM

Do this.....
Go to settings >power > uncheck fastboot
Go to settings > dev options > enable android debugging
Reboot rom

Try flashing recovery through adb now

Ya, been trying that all morning. I was able to reboot into bootloader, but wont accept the flash recovery command. Just states "waiting for device". I am using windows 8, so guessing that's the issue. Been doing the Google search now for 5 hours, but no luck yet. I will keep trying to figure this out.

yep, made sure all options like you stated. It boots into the bootloader screen and then windows wont recognize the usb connection. But I can turn phone and mount the drive, sees phone with zero windows error.

Try this
Boot ROM
Plug in phone
Select charge only
Hopefully it says USB debugging in notification

Now open command prompt
And type adb reboot bootloader

Just see if your PC talks to phone

Have you tried the pg86img.zip of twrp recovery? That should work no problem...
