Help No signal ever since connected to wifi box... HELP!!!!

I have a samsung s2 which I purchased in Italy in 2012. Over it's lifetime it has used 4 sim cards from four different networks (my italian number, my UK number and my two Spanish numbers). I can therefore confirm that the problem IS NOT the network.

A few months ago when my wifi box broke, a friend of mine suggested connecting the phone to the usb box via the usb cable. He then went on my s2's browser and entered some strange code.

Not only did this not fix the wifi box, it also severely damaged the signal/ reception on my phone and since this time, my phone almost never has ANY coverage whatsoever ("emergency calls only" most of the time). I can only make calls if I go to certain places in the street close to my house for example. However, the wifi and bluetooth etc remain totally unaffected and work as normal.

I have tried to use the phone with another sim card here in spain, and I have since taken the phone to Italy and used an Italian sim card. The signal is always the same, virtually non existant.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may be able to fix this? I have already tried restoring factory settings and completely wiping my phone blank. Neither of these had any effect. I would much appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to the forums. I see your having a problem with a android device . Now you changed sims cards and can i ask have you done a network reset .. or a factory rest when your friend tried to hook up to the wifi box . This reset will wipe all wifi data away along with clearing the phone out . To be almost like a brand new device .

I repeat... the phone is already unlocked (under Italian law, it is illegal for the network to lock a phone to a network, so it was never locked to a network). I have done already a "factory settings reset" and it has not improved the signal, it is still unusable.

Also, the wifi works fine. The problem is the actual phone signal

What exactly is this "usb box", a DSL/cable modem? Can you find out from this friend exactly what code he entered? That may help disgnose the problem and find a solution, if one exists. I have to say though, from your description it sounds very much like a hardware fault.

It was a wifi box.

The box was temporarily broken and my friend suggested resetting it by using my phone or something. He commected my s2 to the wifi box via usb, went onto the browser and entered some strange thing. No idea what it was. It was since then that the phone's signal has been appalling (i repeat, only the actual telephone reception is bad, the wifi reception kn my phone is fine).

Do you think that this damaged the phone maybe? If so, the question would be great whether it is a hardware or software problem

@brainz

Nah bro, the phone (only the mobile phone, the wifi works fine) never has signal hardly EVER. This is with four different networks in three different countries.

I can only make phonecalls in a handful of places where i can just about get two bars of signal, and this is in a city of just under a million people (seville, spain). There is something wrong with the phone's signal hardware or it's programming (software)
