Help No sleep bug - Google maps

[weasel]

Noticed there was an update last night. Downloaded it to give it a try. Damned thing has a search bar at the top that you can't get rid of. So I lock the screen and go back to work. 8 hours later battery is almost dead. Battery information shows it not sleeping for 8hrs etc. So if you haven't downloaded it yet, don't bother !!

Nice advice, but what is wrong with google to give us such a defect (battery drainer) app. Btw, I'm quite happy with the one I'm having now.
