No Sound from Headphone Jack

I finally decided to try my 3.5mm jack today since I got new earbuds and was surprised to learn that no sound would ever come out through that jack. It only continued to pour out the phone's speakers. Is there something I am missing? My Droid X didn't have this problem. For reference I have added CWM, rooted and running the PBJ time kernel by imnuts. Please help a man out! :D

Make sure that you plug it in all the way. This happens to me sometimes with certain headphones and cords. It's a bit of a tight fit and needs a little extra force. Hope this helps.

This happened to me too using the headphone jack - I use it for headphones but also use it for the mp3 player in my car AND a converted instrument jack for playing music much louder through a PA system. I agree, plug it in all the way BUT I also have to go to the menu/volume settings and if I move the menu bar back and forth for media, it will start playing. Annoying but fixed it.

Well.....I ....feel like an idiot. I was not pushing the jack all the way in. I swear that last little push is very hard. In fact it grabs the jack so good it is really hard to get it back out. Sorry for the confusion on my part. Thanks to those that replied.

Don't feel stupid I did the same thing..:D

The first time I tried to plug something into the headphone jack I felt like I was going to break it. I figure that as time goes on the headphone jack will loosen up.
