No Stern/Sirius for you!

So Stern re-signs, and says his channels wil now be available on the Sirius Mobile App for IPhone and Android. So I go to download it and of course it is restricted on my Captivate since it is not in the Market.. How difficult is sideloading and do I need to root? I went to the FAQ doc and it said the SWM is the answer yet when I went there, they said there were lots of issues on the Captivate....

Also please know that Stern is NOT on the app yet. His new contract (the one in which this new clause about being on the apps) does not start till January 1st. Expect an update to the app on or after at the earliest with his channels listed.

The comments following that video on the page said that there were some loader problems on the Captivate due to the directory that it wanted to put it in. Did you have to make any mods to load it?
no mods.i just did what the vid. said to do.just install the drivers for your phone on the pc,and net4...

The Captivate FAQ is your friend:

Sideloading - CapFAQ

Actually I went there first as I mentioned in my OP, but then I saw some isues on the SWM site. I found my answer to that though on a post on that site.

I did have a question for you. Is the use of SWM detectable and does it void the warranty like some of the other fixes and workarounds do?

Nope cause in this case there is no rooting or anything on the device that changes in order for the app to be sideloaded.

What sort of issues? I've used it a few times without any problems. :)

There's always the second method also described on the link I gave you. That method does require root, and makes some changes to your phone, but is easy and then lets you download and install apks directly without needing a PC.
