Root No "System Update"

Lurker
I have a rooted Sprint Evo 4g with Salvage Mod Rom. I have only had my service a few day and decided today I'd port my old number from AT&T.

Sprint Customer Service wanted me to go into 'edit mode' on my Evo (##365461#) but that did nothing. She I could do it manually by going to Menu > Settings > System Update > Update System but no such menu exist on my ROM.

During the conversation with CS, the status showed my number was ported. First incoming test call connected but we could not hear each other. Second, I called 888-546-0314 from my device which said my "Sprint service is now active." Third, I called CS rep and everything connected.

Right after my conversation with CS rep I called my Sprint phone (using newly ported number) but it says "This number is no longer in service." I can call out no problem though, and it displays the correctly ported number on the caller ID.

I am going to install another ROM and see if I can find system update. If that doesn't work, can anybody suggest some solutions?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! I've moved your query to the EVO 4G forum.

If you're running a custom ROM, generally speaking, you can't use the System Update option though. Hopefully other users of the device will be able to assist.

Thanks El Presidente... good to know.

So far I've re-flashed to stock Gingerbread ROM and of course had no problem finding the settings mentioned in the first post. Apparently it is Sense ROMs that allow user to enter 'edit mode' which makes sense, no pun.

It still did not resolve issues so I contacted Sprint Level 2 Support who also was not able to help me. They said they would send trouble ticket to Network Support and I'd get the issue resolved in 24-72 hours.

In the mean time, I can receive calls from Sprint Call Centers for some reason and I did receive some text messages. My only concern is that I use my phone for work/business so hopefully this is resolves rather quickly.

I realize this is from a while back, but I moved it to the appropriate forum.. Hopefully you will get a response here.
