Help No talk and surf

Unless I use wi-fi, if I'M surfing the web, incoming calls go straight to voicemail on my atrix. I don't live in a 3g or 4g area, and had no idea that would be a problem when I bought it. Also, I have trouble with my mobile network. The reception is terrible. There's so many places I go where its useless. My old phone was cheap and didnt do much, but it always worked. I like my atrix, but I dont find it very reliable. I battery runs down too fast, or I can't get a signal. All these apps are great and impressive, but they won't help me if I break down and need to make a call. Or miss an important call. Also sometimes I get texts and there's no notification, other times I do. These are the most significant problems, but there are others. Maybe my networks arent set right. Anybody know?

Well, these phones really do need a solid, 3G or better connection. It should fail over to 2G (Edge), but that's not as reliable.

This is why your battery drains so fast. The signal is so weak, it's trying to boost the radio to keep it alive.

I know, where I live, we are in an area where we are between two towers, and can't get a solid, 3G link to either. (And what really sucks is, just beyond those towers, are the ones with 4G on them!). Believe it or not, my Atrix did better when I first got it than my BB 9700 did.

I bought a used "MicroCell" off eBay for under $100. (AT&T sells them new for $200). This unit plugs into your home internet connection, and uses that as a backbone. I get solid 4G, no more missed calls/txt's... all within a 5,000 sq ft area around where I set it.

This won't help when you aren't at home. But, it made a world of difference for me.
