Help No updates at all

Hey guys I've had this phone (c5303) not locked to any network for a month now, I bought it from phones 4 u here in the UK but it's still on 4.1.2 and the sus and pcc both say it's up to date but it clearly isn't, any ideas how to get it to start receiving ota updates?

I don't think there's anything wrong as such, it's just part of a roll-out announced in mid-Feb to update to 4.3. Mine is still showing 4.1.2 also but recently received a minor update to enable 4G so I know my carrier's update system is active (Three).

Have a look at

Now rolling: Android 4.3; Jelly Bean for Xperia T, Xperia TX, Xperia V and Xperia SP | Sony Smartphones

Judging by some of the comments, we may rue the day we ever got updated!

AFAIK, the roll out depends on which carrier you are connected to as to how soon you get the latest update. I too have tried PCC and SUS but nothing so far.

Cheers mate at least I know it's not just this phone lol

Hi Folks,

I also have an Xperia SP, running Android 4.1.2. Build number is 12.0.A.2.254.

I contacted Sony support a few days ago and was unable to get any idea when I could expect Android 4.3. I bought my SP from Amazon, so it is unbranded. My carrier is Vodafone but they are out of the loop as far as any system updates are concerned. I verified this with Sony.

I will receive any updates via the Sony PC Companion, which is installed on my laptop. It was extremely frustrating dealing with Sony support. I used their online chat facility. Communicating with the rep was like getting blood out of a stone!

Yesterday, I read on Drippler that some people who have received 4.3 now have a display flicker problem. Dear, oh dear!

Just to update you Rob, mine updated last week to 4.3. As luck would have it, I was in Shanghai at the time on the world's slowest wi-fi so it took an hour to download and then about 30 minutes to install.

Haven't noticed anything untoward yet but give it time!:(

Anyone had any ideas how to fix this as its still on 4.1.2
Hi RobGee,

I suggest you take a look at the Sony Mobile forums for the Xperia SP. There is one thread there dealing with the long-promised and ill-fated 4.3 update. When I last looked, the thread was a staggering 65 pages long! It would appear that Sony have seriously mishandled 4.3. Many of those who have updated to 4.3 have regretted it.

Sony have added insult to injury by not informing their customers about what is happening behind the scenes. As for me, I have added Sony to my list of companies never to buy from ever again. They are not getting another penny of my money!

Your shortlist of OK companies must be starting to live up to its name! I've had Nokia, HTC, Samsung and now Sony, and they're all crap at keeping the user posted. However, hell would freeze over before I get an iPhone!
