Help No USB Debug option

IvanABQ

Newbie
My SuperPad III tablet running Froyo 2.2-20110325, kernel 2.6.32.9, build FRF85B has no USB Debug option under Settings>Applications. This option needs to be turned on in order to run z4root and root the OS.

How do I turn on the option?

--- Ivan

Many people were able to turn it on by installing another loader but mine still did not give me the option. I had to install Universal Androot v1.6.1. This did the trick without the loader option.

Some have also reported that Androot took a few attempts to root. It seems mine errored but was still rooted when I booted. To verify if it is rooted, another free app called root check.

I don't think it's as necessary in 2.2, but it's still available if you long click a blank part of the Home Screen in Launcher Pro, choose Shortcut, then Activities, Settings, Development mate. That'll put the shortcut there from which you can access debugging.

I personally was able to put the development short cut on my screen but it never would give me the option to turn on the USB debugging. The option simply wasn't there. I poured over all of the different instructions online. Since the other tool worked fine for rooting, I didn't keep fussing over it.

I think rooting is a must on the FT3. My battery had no longevity until I dealt with it. Time sync and other cool tools are only available for on a rooted tablet. I haven't ROM'd my tablet because it seems to do everything I like. I may change my mind in the future.

Installed Launcher Pro, but the version I installed did not have the options you described. So I uninstalled it. Got the device rooted with Universal Androot, anyway.

Okay Ivan, might be worth checking if you had the latest one (it's my favourite launcher, so somewhat biased!).

Did you scroll all the way down the list of possible shortcuts? It starts with "Applications" and, depending on the resolution, users often have to spin down to find "Activities" listed.

Glad you're sorted though Bud.
