Help No Wi Fi After Update today!!???

I did the update this morning through 3G and everything seems to be working... FINALLY. I can't confirm the additional wireless sensitivity but I did check to make sure that Foxfi still works. It does.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all of the problems are behind us.

If you are rooted and have CWM do not install the update over the air!

The over the air update will not install if you have CWM. If you don't have CWM but are rooted you will lose root after the update.

If you want to keep root and CWM see this thread instead:

Thanks for your reply Mydian.
I was reading your posts on that thread...it seems that you noticed some lags here and there....is that all fixed now?
is there anything good in this update? :)

I notice some lag here and there but it's not much. I was also having problems with the 3G location services. My wife's phone is not rooted and got the OTA update. Her's is the same. Network location services while on 3G just don't work. I wonder if this is the same for 911? That would be really bad.

I switched back to 2.3.4 for now.. hers will stay on 2.3.6 (not rooting her phone.)

The new baseband seems nice and I want that at least. We were out today and pulled over at a gas station to wait out a nasty thunder storm. She had 3G and was surffing the web, I could not. I never got any webpages to load. She loaded radars, got on facebook, whatever she wanted to do. We both had 2-4 bars so signal strength seemed the same. Hers was running slow so it must have been a crappy tower but it was working.

Reroot yes, unroot? Prolly not. Uncwm? Yes

Well my wife finally recieved the request to update her (rooted) phone so she did. All is fine, it works great.

However, I checked the root status, and the phone is no longer rooted. So that means Loota is correct.

However, I'm not exactly sure what is meant by "Uncwm? Yes". Can someone clarify please, just a one or two sentence explanation.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone.

I got the update to 2.3.6 the other day and I'm having a problem with the auto-sync function. I am not rooted (and I never have been rooted). Here's the situation:

I have two google accounts on the phone: a regular "@gmail.com" account (primary) and a second, google apps account (a business account that I pay for separately which has a custom domain).

Since the update, the primary, "@gmail.com" account syncs fine. Emails are pushed to the gmail app and the contacts and calender sync automatically as well.

Before the update, the google apps account also automatically updated (and pushed emails and contact changes to the phone). Since the update, the emails are no longer being pushed to the phone (I have to manually click the "refresh" option within the gmail app. This happens on both wi-fi and 3g. The sync settings (within the app and in the android settings menu are identical).

Here is what I've tried to do based upon advice given in other forums with regard to other android phones (to no avail):

1. I uninstalled the Gmail app update.
2. Cleared the cache.
3. Cleared the app data.
4. Removed the google apps account from the "Accounts and Sync" menu
5. Disabled Syncing from the "Accounts and Sync" menu for the "@gmail" (primary) account.
6. Powered down, and then restarted the phone.
7. Added the google apps account and enabled auto sync (and re-enabled auto sync for the "@gmail" (primary) account.

I purposefully didn't update the gmail app to see if the update was the problem. The app behaved the same way with or without the update (the primary "@gmail" accout auto-synced perfectly, but the google apps account didn't auto sync).

Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks so much in advance for your help!

[Note - I tried to start a new thread for this issue, but since I'm a new user I couldn't. Mods: Please move this to a different thread if you think there may be a more appropriate spot for it]

Well after reading the "[VIDEO] How to root your 2.3.6 phone using Odin and CWM" Thread, I believe I have a little better understanding what "cwm" stands for...

Loota's Definition:
"CWM - a phone flashing program run directly from your phone to install stock and custom images. CWM takes the place of the recovery program that came with your phone so your phone must be in recovery mode to use it (Turn phone off, press and hold vol- and power, release power button when samsung logo appears)."

Since neither my phone, or my wife's phone had the CWM flashing program installed, it doesn't create an issue for the update.

Cheers!
