FWIW, KaosGingerbread is not CM based, but he hasn't worked on the ROM for a long time and it is still missing features. [Too slow on the update and metlcat beat me to this ...]
There are several issues that I know that people have with Cyanogen ROMs (CM5, 6 and 7). They are:
- undead call problem: the phone seems as if it is dropping a call, the instamtly reconnecting, but you find out when you talk to the other end that it was connected all of the time. Erisuser1 actually found out the cause of this problem. I know that GSB inclues the patch for it, and you can install on any other ROM
- GPS disconnecting after 20-30 minutes. Fixed in GSB, I think that this has not been fixed in any of the Froyo ROMs.
- Dial *228 and there is no keypad to press 1 (for activation) or 2 (for PRL update). But you can long-press the menu key to pop up the keyboard and press a number from there.
- There are often weird camera/gallery issues. Generally avoidable once you know the issues.
- When on speakerphone, when the phone's display goes to sleep, it will not easily wake. In every case you can wake the screen by holding Vol Up and pressing the Send key.
Those are the major ones that I can think of. Ar least on my phone, I get better battery life from the CM ROMs than I do with the stock and stock-based ROMs, like xtrSENSE and xtrROM.
Quasinerd, I'd make a Nandroid backup and then try out GSB. It's really a good ROM and it's interesting to see how vanilla Android runs compared with HTC's customizations. Just be careful to flash the Google apps zip file right after flashing GSB. If you create a Nandroid backup, you can always go back to what you have now.
