Non-nexus devices getting ICS before we do...

Welcome to the Google experience...full of it IMO! Even if we do get it before anyone else, it is still a disappointment given that we over 4 months overdue (based on what Google promised!). I bought my Nexus S 4G when i heard that Google was going to give us ICS "within weeks" of GN/ICS release in November...boy, did Google trick me or what?!

Even if we do get it before anyone else

Well the point is that it's no longer hypothetical. We don't get it before anyone else as it's already being rolled out in Europe for the Galaxy S2. In all likelihood, the SGS2 will be updated here in the states before we get ours, too.

Yup...and you can't even claim that CDMA is the reason for the delay! GSM Nexus S is still waiting! Google experience? It should be a punch line of a horrible joke!

HTC Vivid gets ICS. Hmmm, it seems like I should have gotten HTC...HTC clearly cares for its customers. Google experience my arse!!

you would have to prove intent from google to mislead you. there argument would be they intended to push to the nexus first but unforseen bugs and problems pushed that back. they did try to push the update to the t mobile nexus s and it was a buggy beast. poof there goes your lawsuit. not saying there right or trying to burst your bubble just saying you stand zero chance.

Yes but they never tried to push to the 4G and I can build a working ROM from their source that I use on a daily basis without issue. So at this point Google can shove it. I bought My Galaxy Nexus because of the awesome Gingerbread update speed this phone got and I wanted that since I have Verizon as well. Never buying a Nexus again period. I will stick to Motorola or HTC. Probably Motorola because their radios rock. Hope that doesn't change now that they are a part of Google. Hell My OG saw better support than the NS4G did once ICS dropped.

thats personal choice. i dont blame ya but i was responding to his class action lawsuit idea. it wont work. you cant prove googles intent was to mislead and you cant prove personal damage. what personal damage has come from just using gingerbread?? they said in a few weeks and i guess we'll see. as far as support how many phones are even running 2.3.7??? so support never fully died. its just taking a lil longer than intended. no crime there.

True but a lot of phone will never run 2.3.7 since the only real updates were to Google wallet. 2.3.6 is the last general release from Google for manufacturing but is a minor point. A class action lawsuit will never come I agree because it was never promised and put into any form or writing besides on the webpage and that will not stand up for the reasons listed. I am going to just stop buying Google Devices and vote with my wallet. Looking at HTC for my next phone since Samsung radios are crap and now Moto is part of Google. Plus you have to look at carriers for a lot of this. How many times have Verizon delayed an update because they wanted a feature removed. Until the USA goes to unlocked phones and you only pay for your usage and carrier hop like some other countries carriers won't worry about getting updates out, just new phones that they can sell while people are still under contract to make a quick buck.

Rooting would be your best route to go with this point. I got tired of waiting around for the "official update" and I couldn't be happier after installing ICS onto my NS4G. It's not as hard of a process as it sounds (thankfully).

yea thats true on the 2.3.7 but a ton of phones aint even running 2.3.6 yet. samdung radios are crap but htc while better isnt that much of an improvment. htcs are built nice though. ive had the evo the evo 3d and the sensation 4g with t mobile great builds. moto hands down wins for signal. if the photon didnt have blur or as there calling it now motos application platform and that awful pentile screen it would be sprints best phone. blur just doesnt work right with the tegra 2 it always has an annoying stutter. samsung powers there devices better than anyone though. even the conquer 4g is powered nicely. it has the same chipset as the htc thunderbolt.

I've actually been rooted running ICS since it first became available. It's a matter of principle, really, and on behalf of those who don't have the technical savvy to install custom roms onto their devices. As easy as it may be, the majority of consumers aren't even aware that it's possible nor what its advantages are.

the thing with the custom ics roms is every one i tried had a lil issue that bothered me. mostly minor but im picky i want a perfect rom like a stock build. usually its a screen flash when turning off the screen or screen fade when turning it on. to me thats annoying and looks tacky.

Yeah you're definitely right about that. Google should keep their word. It's definitely misleading for people who purchase the phone because they were told that it will receive the latest and greatest updates first.

I just turned my screen on and off ~20 times and saw the green flicker 5 or so times, and it was barely visible when it did happen. Have you used the voodoo app to control the green? I was able to eliminate almost all of it by turning the green gama offest to -27. Doesn't go green when it dims either.

I'm running Slim ICS by the way and it's the fastest ICS ROM I've ever tried.

Not sure what you mean but if you follow the link in my Sig I build a slightly modified Bugless Beast and I too like it as close to stock as possible. There are some minor color tweaks in my build though. The ICS Blue I got rid of in favor of Red for example. I had to replace the default dialer with my last build but I should have that worked back in shortly I just need to find some down time this week to get it all edited up.

ive tried voodoo and it helps but its still there. just annoys me. its not the devs fault theres nothing they can really do about it and i know that. they do awesome work. ive used yours strife and the red is awesome i really liked it but all of petes roms have the lockscreen flash. when you click on and off the screen u either get a double flash of the homescreen or a green screenflash. even his stock 4.0.4 does it. i know until google releases the source code theres nothing that can fix it. petes roms are awesome though he does good work.

Strange I have sat here with my phone for about 30 times pressing power to turn the screen on and off and have not seen it happen once. I use the circle to unlock do you use any type of lock screen. I am trying to narrow it down and see if I can re-create it because I have never seen it happen that I can recall. I will talk to a few other guys I know that have the NS4G and see what we can come up with. I did try changing it to none for the unlock screen and still nothing I have been also looking over the source from last night to see if it is in something I have changed already with the latest build and what controls the screen off. Hopefully Google gets it fixed in 4.0.5 or 4.0.4 but as you said so far neither have had the source released yet.

Sounds like this is a Kernel issue as well. Not sure if you tried the latest build I just put up but it's only about 4 days old and I know there is a new kernel in it. I had a lot of good feedback of people running the Matrix Kernel in my ROM, haven't tried it with the latest version but it may be worth a shot.

Just an FYI there is an official leak of the Sprint ICS Rom here. I flashed yesterday (all data SD-contents gone in process) and all I can say is WOW! If you were like me just waiting on an official Sprint release here it is. This will be the OTA update soon. However at this point I think ICS is great, but I will be going to AOKP 4.0.4 once its out. Just need some more functionality then the stock ICS and I hear AOKP has it.
