Help Non-rooted Backup?

Long story short the OTA update(s) have done a pretty solid job of making my phone more difficult to use than it use to be. The last straw is the bluetooth sync with cars I bought over the weekend. My wife and I both have Epic 4Gs and we both got new Mini Coopers over the weekend. Our phones would both sync with the car for one call (either incoming or outgoing) and then it disconnects and doesn't want to reconnect. My wifes phone is (was) pretty close to stock so we did a hard reset last night which has completely resolved the bluetooth problems.

I thought that saving the apps to the SD card (at least the ones that allow for it) would save all of the data for those apps so I wouldn't have reinstalled them from the market and so I wouldn't lose her data. Well that did not work at all. Luckily she only uses about a dozen apps so it was only an annoyance to reinstall them.

On the other hand I use about 50 apps on a regular basis. I don't want to have to reinstall all of my apps and I don't want to loose all of my data (angry birds.....).

So I need to do a hard reset but first I need to back everything up. Are there any back-up options that will work without rooting?

If I'm not mistaken you need to be rooted to save the data. Any non-rooted backup apps will only save the app.

Correct. In addition, if you are not rooted, the "Market link" is not saved with the app. That means if you use an app like MyBackup Pro on your non-rooted phone, when you restore the app, it will exist on your phone (minus the data). However, when you go to the Market and look under "My Apps", it will not show up, meaning you will not get updates.

To get updates, you have to install the app from the Market, which pretty much means the backup of your apps done with MyBackup Pro on a non-rooted phone is pretty useless.

Will the updates show up if I use appbrain?

Appbrain has been hit or miss for me. I use appmonster pro. It will save the app and market link so you have a choice plus some other features. I am rooted but that will work without being rooted. There is also a free version too.
