Non-wifi browsing

Another noob question, sorry!

Not yet got my new Desire but I've watched several youtube clips showing fast and smooth browsing performance; I'm guessing these clips were showing phones connected over wifi.
What's the browsing experience like on normal 3g when out and about?
Is watching streaming video feasible for example?

much will depend on your providers signal i would have thought.on 3g i can watch youtube but it may take a while to load and buffer occasionally.on h it is just a few secs slower than wifi but normally doesnt buffer

If you can get a H signal it should be fine.

If on a slow connection you can get apps which will allow you to download the video to your sd card. The Desire can multitask brilliantly so you can do something else while waiting for the download to finish.

Thanks for the replies. Just searched my home, work and one or two other places where I am likely to be on O2's HSPDA map and have coverage in most of them, so that's good. :)

It really depends on the coverage. I get 2.9Mb/s down and 1.3Mb/s up in my apartment and most of the city, but on the train it can go as low as 20Kb/s for short periods.

I get poor coverage a lot with 3uk in my home town. Not impressed with them to be honest. Coverage was great in Leeds though, used maps and web constantly without issues
