Since I'm rooted, have a custom recovery etc, I decided it would be fun to see how many system apps I could remove without causing my phone to crash. The results were pretty surprising... Apparently Sense applications aren't as necessary as they've been made out to be. Granted the phone isn't hooked up to service, but since I haven't modified or removed anything related to the dialer or messaging, I imagine it should be safe.
The only ADDITION I made to the Wildfire's /system was the addition of an alternative launcher app, which required another reboot to properly use.
What was removed? Almost anything related to widgets, the HTC launcher (known as Rosie), lockscreen customizations, the extra customizations (Personalize still exists but cannot be opened). And the phone responded incredibly well, switching to the default Android lockscreen and acting almost every bit like stock Android.
I'd like to list the semi-safe apps here.... Yeah, coming soon. I promise.
