[ROM][8/24] Nonsensikal v4.6 [Froyo|Black|Blue|Vanilla] - xda-developers

anyone try this rom out as well as kaosfroyo? Just curious as to if this one works out a little bit better since its 'newer'? Yeah I know I could do a nandroid and try it out but if someone else has already..........:)

I had 4.4 Blue in for one full day's use.

It was remarkable, fast, good to look at with no customization on my part, stable .. but it chewed up my battery life like a hog at the slop trough, so I dumped it.

I should say that a few more days of use could have caused things to settle down, as far as resource drain goes; that does happen with these ROMs. I just didn't have the moxy to continue with it.. might try again with this 4.6.

I just loaded up the black theme. So far it seems really nice. Very fast right out of the box.

Only issue I have so far is the Sprint banner on the pulldown menu and the lock screen. Normally I just go into the cyanogen mod settings and remove the banner all together. Problem is, I can't seem to get into the correct sub-menu without it force closing. Anyone else having this problem?

..testing Nonsensikal 4.6 Blue..

The first thing I did, following a bit of the usual tweaky config stuff, was run Gallery. I noticed that the distortion is gone and the screens and all pics load nicely.

I'm overclocked at 748/528 via SetCPU with the usual sleep profile.

Keyboard and phone dialer are both snappy.. zero lag.

Menus load quickly as does any app.. the app drawer speed is set to 7, which snaps it on and off the screen crispy and nice with no scrolling distortion of the icons.

Not bad at all.. being Cyanogen based it quite resembles Kaos, of course, except for the themed aspect of it.

I love the notification bar tweaks you can do in these ROMs, etc.. making the 2.2 what we want it to look, feel and behave like is very nice.

If I ever decide to root (I keep putting it off, maybe I should take the plunge tonight), I'm going to go with the black theme. It looks awesome.
How is battery life?

How is battery life?

Not good. Not the worst I've seen, but inferior to xtrROM, which I get the best on, and also inferior to Kaos, another 2.2 based ROM.

I am not sure why the Kaos fares better in battery life than this one; they are both based on Cyanogen.

I'll run it with JIT for a while (there's a toggle in the menu) and other tests.. as it is, I have animations turned off, etc.

I wonder how much worse it can be then the stock OS, sitting in my cafeteria today in school playing World War my battery went down about 10% after only using it for about 5 minutes. That could be because I have terrible signal in my school.

The low signal and the graphics intensive use of a game during that same time will drain the battery. ;)

World War doesn't seem very graphic intensive. I'm sure it does drain the battery faster, but I think a game like one of the emulators or racing games would drain it even faster.
As for rooting and flashing the rom, I'll think about it, maybe take the plunge tonight and see how bad the battery life is. I should probably find a backup app though first, so I don't have to reinstall all my apps.

Anyone having GPS problems in 4.6? Navigation gets stuck at "Searching for GPS." Also Maps doesn't update correctly, it shows the last location I was at, this also happened on KaosFroyo.

I just flashed the 4.6 blue, i like it but i still think stock Rom is faster unless someone can tell me how to make it a little faster.

noobie here <---------

froyo roms take a bit to get up to full speed. right after flashing it will seem a little laggy. it is downloading and reinstalling all of your apps. give it some time.

also, try turning all animations off. got to menu-settings-display and turn off any animations.

use Launcher Pro and set the apps drawer opening to 10.

tons of other little tricks that do help. Just search and read.

I've been running 4.6 (black) since last week after running Kaos for at least a month, I don't notice any difference in battery life between the two.
Honestly, it seems a lot snappier than Kaos v31, but then again, I may have just been getting bored from not constantly trying a new rom/version.
The black theme just flat out rocks though....it's exactly what I've been trying to achieve using Metamorph, and failing :)

I'm running that one now, too. I like what the dev did with the buttons on this black version.

It seems quite smooth, snappy in response in menus and bringing up apps, etc (no overclocking needed).

Froyo is moving right along for Eris users. I was doubtful at first with the early ROMs.

I am thinking of installing version 5.3. If I install that version, when the Blue or Black version get released can I just install over, or will I have to do a wipe and install?

You might have some theming elements not show up, but everything should be functional. Just be sure to make a nand backup before flashing or wiping anything.

Hey Frisco, thanks for posting my ROM links here! I thought about starting a thread here but I don't stop by much and I already keep 2 threads up to date for my work, the only way I could keep track of a third would be to stop making ROMs :p It is nice to have the additional feedback because more feedback leads to more fixes and better customizations. Hope everyone is enjoying...

Oh yea, v5.4 is alive!

Woot 5.4 black is released. I'll be (finally) taking the plunge and flashing it either in a hour or so or tonight. Wish me luck. :p
