Noob, having trouble getting Ubuntu Touch to load

Sorry if I'm in the wrong place for this post, or if there is already an answer to this question that I just haven't found yet, but...
I am pretty new to Android and Flashing etc. but I am in the IT field and thus very trainable. Anyway, I have been searching the forums all over, and have found quite a few links that try to answer my question, but I have yet to find anything that works. I bought this used Inspire/Desire for the purpose of test-driving Ubuntu Touch as I can't wait for it to Really be released in the US. I have my phone SIM unlocked by AT&T, HBOOT Boot Loader Unlocked by HTC, ClockworkMod 5.8.1 Touch for recovery but I have a feeling that the HBOOT 2.00.0030 and S-ON are preventing Ubuntu Touch from actually starting up. I backed up before wiping the system/data/cache (full system wipe) just before applying updates from SD Card which were supposed to work and as follows;
1. quantal-preinstalled-armel-ace-20130303.zip
2. quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf-20130303.zip
3. ubuntu-ppi-ace.zip
These installed without error, unlike the

  • cm-10.1-[DATE]-UNOFFICIAL-vision.zip
  • modified-[DISTRIBUTION]-touch-armhf-[DATE].zip
from the wiki.ubuntu/Touch site for the Desire Z (which is basically same/lesser hardware). However, when I reboot waiting for Ubuntu to load, instead I am stuck at the White HTC splash screen...forever or until I pull the battery. So, what other things must I do to get this running? it appears that some people have been successful, but they are older posts, likely with earlier HBOOT versions. Thanks in advance for your help
