Hi all
I just bought a tablet with android on it
now I was told it was a superpad but as ive been reading through the forum im a bit confused about what i have
On the box it says SuperPADIII
In the About device tab it says
Model number: DISCO10
Android version: 2.2-20110529
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 zjd@dtlinuxserver #76
Build number: FRF85B
On the user manual it says
10.1 MID (Android 2.2 512MDDR)
It is a 10.1 Screen

So im trying to figure out exactly what i have

Also would like to know
What is rooting and why do it?
And how to update firmware, and which to use?

Thak you
DAK

Hi,

It says disco so you're probably Ok but just to be on the safe side check the power supply voltage and the number of TF slots. If the answers are: 5V and One slot you have one of the good ones. Upgrading your firmware is as easy as putting a couple of files of an SD Card.

I use s0I's firmware and it is great for me, other people use various iterations of Tim's, the choice is yours...

It's certainly a Superpad or a variant - there seem to be many similar models. Don't worry too much about trying to define what it is (it's a murky subject area.....), as long as it flashed okay you're good to go.

As for rooting, it's the Linux/Android equivalent of granting the user Administrator rights in Windows. Ultimately it allows you/your apps to do far more things with the operating system than if you just have standard user privileges.

As for updating the ROM, just download the 2 files (Firmware2 & Firmware Discovery) from a reliable source, pop them onto an SD card (in the root, not in a folder) & re-boot the tablet with the SD card in it. Follow on screen instructions & you're good to go. If you have any apps/data on there at the moment, download Titanium first and back everything up before starting the process.

If allowed can i ask where i may find a reliable sorce for the firmware
also where can i find more on rooting

Another thing i heard is there any truth that i can change the unit from 4gig to anything higher like is there some internal sd card or something
