Help noob lost gmail on frontpage

Hi everybody Mr noob here (at least with smartphones) and I lost my gmail preview on the front page. I know it was me just don't know what I did wrong. Well the phone has been working OK for past two weeks even been talking to boost mobile csr's at times. But this latest goof up is going to get posted so as to help others as well. I have KitKat 4.4.2 installed and updated minimal apps.
This current problem occurred while I was checking settings and I recall deleting gmail's info on a certain page. After that I noticed the glaring problem. On main page its blank where gmail used to be and it says touch to set up but nothing happens. Is this fixable?

Welcome to the forums, Matt!
So it doesn't ask you to sign into your Gmail account when you touch "Set up"?
There's another way of adding it by going into Settings - Accounts and Sync and ensuring your Google account is set up and Gmail is syncing.

At this time touching the scr to setup does nothing.
I also went into accounts sync like you said and it synced when I pressed sync button but that does not solve problem. I think I deleted gmail important info from google setting / search and now / accounts and privacy / search engine storage / gmail / " clear data"
Also may have cleared cache too
Hope this is what went wrong.

I also noticed gmail setting was unchecked in settings / google / accounts / your account (or mine) / scroll down after touch account name to gmail and check the box for auto sync. Now, I get email alerts in the other black screen under main screens, which opens email page. Not what I wanted, but it will do for now.
