whats the size that you should have a picture optimally to use as a wallpaper on the Captivate? i tried using some pics that were 480x800, but they didnt quite look AS good when scrolling through different screens via LauncherPro....
 
also, will .png files work on the Captivate? i usually like to use .pngs because they seem to be a lil sharper, making great use of the awesome display.

Not just "seem", but "are" sharper... at least relative to JPG. Jpeg is a lossy compression meaning that data is thrown away in the effort to make it smaller. PNG is lossless, so the image is always at the original perfect quality... just highly-compressed.

Some Jpegs will be worse than others, depending on what the creator set the compression ratio at. 85% is about average, but some will choose more while others less, and the affect on quality is often noticeable (at least to me).
