Root Noob question

I like the ROM and GingerFusion a lot, but there's one thing I want to change- the green icon that pops up when a text message is received. Can I go into the mms.apk and swap out the stat_notify_sms or stat_notify_mms .png files for other ones named exactly the same? I found a blue text message icon that would go perfectly with the theme

You could try using rom toolbox to put the icon in, much the same way my entire theme was done, just make sure the name of your new icon matches the old.

I found that out the hard way last night. I tried swapping them out, and ended up disabling the sms/mms function on my phone. I had to restore and then reflash the Extreme ROM.
