Noob: What is froyo?

Froyo is the nickname of the 2.2 version of the Android OS.
Eclair was the name of the 2.1 version of the Android OS that you are on.

Froyo more or less gives you a speed boost and Flash 10.1. Which is what people updated for.

If you want to know more, read up on rooting and do research on the perks of rooting. Then try a rooted 2.2 ROM and see for yourself.

If your not going to be helpful why do you even post, I thought these forums were made to help people who are new to android or who need help with questions they may have. Froyo is the latest version of the Android operating system, it adds new features to your phone and updates some old ones.
 
There'll be an OTA (over the air) update in the next 2 weeks. If they haven't set the schedule back & you don't want to wait you can do it manually on the 3rd by opening Menu-Settings-System updates-HTC Software Update.

It's an update to the phone's OS, with a few tweaks and capabilities that weren't present on the current phone. As for negative posts, please don't mind them. There are more than enough people here willing to help. Cheers!
