NOOB

Whats up guys. I'm not new to androids, but I'm new to the "rooting". My GS4 arrives next week (verizon). I eventually plan on rooting it in some way. Although I haven't a clue how to do it, or what it even does. All I know is that it's supposed to (in most cases and when done right) make your phone run better, and be more customized. If anyone could explain to me the whole "root" deal, and what i can expect that would be killer.

EDIT: I forgot to mention my name!! lol My names David!! So HELLO.

Hello there! Welcome to the Forums! :)

Let me lay you out some reading.

That should get you started. :p

The short version is that you are getting administrative rights to your phone. I don't know about you, but computers I use at work or the library, etc, are locked down. I can not add or subtract anything from the way it is set up without higher privileges than I am allowed.

Rooting your phone gives you those privileges and responsibilities. You can turn your phone into a paperweight, and it is on you, totally. :)

That takes you back to reading! There is more to it, but let me turn you loose so you can get started! :p

Glad to have you with us, and last but not least, forum for the phone. More reading... lol http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/
