Lurker
Hi,
just got my first Android 'phone, HTC Desire S, not had an Iphone or anything like before.
Any help on decent (or rather essential) apps would be most graciously welcome.
thanks
Mark

Like urself, new to android. I put some security sw on it, there is a AV called AVG, also a prog called lockout. A good indicator I would have thought is when looking at a prog, see if it has positive reviews and has been downloaded a lot then it is good to install. install the like of flash and other adobe stuff, as well as google stuff... I also installed stuff which i knew was good on apple itunes.

I would Install.

- Dolphin Browser (Better internet browser)
- GoSMS (Better Text message app)
- eBay
- Tweetdeck (Twitter/Facebook app)
- Speedtest (Test Wi-Fi or 3G Speed)
- 3G Watchdog (Keep track of 3G usage)
- Quickpic (MUCH Better Gallery)
- Lookout (Security and tracker if u loose the phone)
- Barcode scanner (Useful)
- MoboPlayer (Better video player)
- Angry Birds (Awesome game)
- Dropbox (If you use Dropbox)
- AK Notepad (Good notes app)
- BBC iPlayer
- Glow Hockey (Good game)
- DroidStats (Tells u how much mins/txts/web u have left)
- Google Earth
- Google Goggles (Search web with pictures)
- Phandroid (This forum on your phone ;))
- SoundHound (Find the name of a song thats playing)

There are just a few really good ones :) Enjoy! :D

I'm also new to Android having made the switch from iPhone, so threads like this are useful.

Elsewhere someone recommended iSyncr for transferring iTunes playlists to Android devices -
