Root Nook color cm7 problem

Nook color was working great with cm7 on sd for months. Had a problem with nook battery so sent it back for warranty work. Got it back working fine as a reader, but had new software upgrade 1.4 installed . Now my cm7 will boot and act like everthing is there but no funtions on touch screen once it loads.Tried booting in recovery mode but still no luck. Has anybody had this problem and is there a fix? Hate to loose everything on cm7 mem. card, got a ton of apps in there. HEEEEEELLLPPP PLEASE :(

Sorry, I'm probably no help if it's a B&N issue. I did a little research on XDA and saw nothing that would indicate that newer versions of B&N rom would break anything.

What version of CM7 (old? new?)

Did it work at all after you got it back?

What does "Tried booting in recovery mode but still no luck." mean? Are you saying you can't boot into recovery?

Were you able to shut it down gracefully before you returned it for the battery issue?

What other issues did you have before you returned it?

I suspect you need to update your rom and gapps to the latest version to fix it.

Remember that booting into recovery when CM7 is running the SD card is basically ONLY going to look for updates. It's not full recovery mode that is present if CM7 is installed on internal memory. In fact, if you install recovery from CM7, it will be installed on EMMC, not the SD card, even if CM7 is running from SD.

I hope I got that right. Colchiro, did I mis-state anything?

If CM boots from SD but you have no touch screen function, it's likely your hardware was updated or replaced with the newer screen hardware and your SD contains an older version of CM without the necessary drivers. Try updating your card with a more recent version of CM. I recommend the CM 7.2 RC0 Mirage build over on XDA, as it's frequently updated.

If you're feeling paranoid, make a new uSD with a more recent CM version to test before updating your beloved card!

Thanks for your help. I am up and running again. Heres what I did in case anyone has the same problem. Wrote generic-sdcard-v1.3.img Then update-cm-7.2.0-RC3-encore-signed Then gapps-gb-20110828-signed (for the google play store) Put in in the nook fired it up and all is working . Good side all is working .Bad side lost all my old apps. But what the heck like starting over with a virgin computer. The nook I sent back was cooked (Who knows maybe from overclocking) It was only 6 months old . They sent me back a refurb. Hope this bad boy keeps running for awhile. Like to try cm9 when it is perfected. Anyway again thanks for the help.

We know what works... :D

I'm more interested in why it didn't work for you. Did you install an old copy of gApps?
